Since January 1, 2005, the Area Agency on Aging office in Slayton has
been referred to as Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging (MNRAAA)-Slayton
Office. The MNRAAA administrative office is located in
Mankato. MNRAAA covers 27 counties in Southwest Minnesota and
currently has
offices in Mankato, Slayton, and Willmar.
MNRAAA-Slayton Office is a program of the Southwest
Regional Development Commission. The goal of the Area Agency on Aging is
to assist Older Minnesotans to live independent, meaningful, dignified
lives in their hometowns or places of residence.
MNRAAA-Slayton Office is
dedicated to helping older people in Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon,
Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, and Rock counties lead comfortable
independent lives. To do that, our services fall into four
categories:
Information and Assistance
A directory of local and regional organizations and service providers for
senior services is maintained and updated constantly. Through the Senior
LinkAge Line®, staff and
trained volunteers assist in
connecting seniors, their family members and professionals locate the services they need. The
toll-free number is 1-800-333-2433 (more
information). Senior services can also be found on the
Internet at www.minnesotahelp.info.

Advocacy
As representatives of older citizens in our communities, staff frequently
serves as senior advocates. Advocacy ranges from identifying a need for
services, establishing goals and priorities in service delivery and
providing information on appropriate legislation for local, state, and
federal issues.
Service Development
Staff will assist in researching funding options and will provide technical
assistance to local government, senior citizen groups/centers, and
individual providers for service development.
Coordination
Staff assess, plan, and coordinate aging programs. Our goal is to enhance service offerings and
ensure that the needs of our senior population are being met. A high
priority is placed on developing a strong network of service providers for
the expansion and development of aging programs.
