The Senior LinkAge Line® is a free statewide telephone information, referral, and assistance service provided through the Minnesota Board on Aging, which makes it easy for older adults and their families to find community services for seniors. By calling 1-800-333-2433, the caller is connected with a Senior LinkAge Line® Information and Referral Specialist who can help determine the available service options in their community of interest. Community resources can also be found on www.MinnesotaHelp.info. It is an online directory of services designed to help people in Minnesota identify resources such as human services, information and referral, financial assistance, and other forms of aid and assistance within Minnesota. It is especially rich in resource information for seniors and their caregivers; people with disabilities and their caregivers; parents and families; and low income people. Also available on www.minnesotahelp.info is a tool entitled "Long Term Care Choices". It's a tool for seniors, families and caregivers who are looking for a way to determine what their needs may need, be connected to appropriate resources and have a plan created for them based on their needs identified. The Slayton office of the MN River Area Agency on Aging answer Senior LinkAge Line® calls for the 27 counties in Southwest Minnesota. Staff and trained counselors are available if individualized assistance is needed. RxConnect, health insurance counseling and Senior Medicare Patrol Project are services of the Senior LinkAge Line®.
RxConnect™ assists people, regardless of age, to access the best options for affordable medications, including discount cards and patient assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers. By calling the Senior LinkAge Line® at 1-800-333-2433, you will be linked with a trained Health Insurance Counselor in your area. If you would like to become a trained health insurance counselor, please call the Senior LinkAge Line® for more information and training dates. The purpose is to serve Medicare Beneficiaries of all ages by assisting them, through individualized counseling and assistance, to obtain appropriate health care coverage and entitled Medicare/Medicaid or medical insurance benefits. The program also serves to educate the public about the health care reimbursement system. Insurance? Senior Medicare Patrol Project (SMP)
formally known as Medicare FYI This project is designed to recruit volunteers to work with their peers in senior centers and other places where older adults gather to assist in identifying and reporting waste, fraud and abuse. Definitions of Medicare Waste, Fraud & Abuse Medicare Waste-Funds expended carelessly or needlessly. The unintentional misuse of Medicare funds through inadvertent errors. The most frequent kind of waste occurs in coding billings incorrectly. Medicare Fraud-An intentional deception or misrepresentation which could result in an unauthorized benefit. The most frequent kind of fraud arises from a false statement or misrepresentation that is material to entitlement or payment under the Medicare Program. Medicare Abuse-Incidents or practices inconsistent with sound medical or business procedures. These practices may directly or indirectly result in unnecessary costs to the program; improper payment; payment for services that fail to meet professionally recognized standards of care; or that are medically unnecessary. |
