Explore Southwest Minnesota's Trails

Southwest Minnesota boasts a network of trails perfect for hiking, biking, and enjoying the outdoors. Our trails wind through picturesque prairies, serene lakeshores, and quiet prairie landscapes, offering something for everyone.

Southwest Minnesota, often celebrated for its vast prairies and agricultural heritage, holds a lesser-known treasure: a burgeoning network of trails that beckon outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers. While the region may not boast the towering peaks or dramatic coastlines of other destinations, its trails offer a unique blend of scenic beauty, historical significance, and community connection.

SW Regional Plan 2024

A Vision for the Future: Expanding the Network

The Southwest Minnesota Regional Trail Plan paints a promising picture for the future, envisioning a more connected and accessible trail network. By linking existing trails and developing new routes, the plan aims to create a seamless outdoor experience for residents and visitors alike. This vision includes enhancing trail amenities, improving signage, and promoting the region's trails as a premier destination for outdoor recreation.

The Southwest Regional Development Commission (SRDC) has crafted this regional trail plan to bolster support for trails across Southwest Minnesota at local, regional, and legislative levels.

The report serves as a strategic roadmap to develop and improve the trail network in Southwest Minnesota, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the region's appeal, fostering economic growth, and improving the overall well-being of its residents and visitors.
